Day of the Moon, Crack Theory Extravaganza

Apr 30, 2011 22:09

Well, this series is off to a cracking start, isn't it? Not only can I not wait until next episode, but this danged show is making me go back and analyze all sorts of bread crumb moments in series 5 and series 4 (to be fair, only "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead", but still!).

And Here We Are, Off To Crack Land )

eleventh doctor, doctor who, wtf, crack, incoherent fangirling

my brain is broken and i'm falling asleep but i'll be back later. i like your theories. river as 12 would be epic epic scale narcissism but i wouldn't put it past the doctor.

the silence however are REALLY FRIGGING CREEPY D:

SO MANY QUESTIONS. TOO FEW ANSWERS. NEED A TARDIS TO WATCH THE REST OF THE EPISODES.

AND MAKE MARK TWAIN, DOROTHY PARKER, AND OSCAR WILDE HAVE AN EPIC CONVERSATION.

And that was terribly creepy. I'm pretty hard to scare, but the thought of things doing stuff to me without my express permission and volition is terrifying. The orphanage was creepy enough to almost put me behind the sofa. Poor little ones.

oh how much would i love a tardis of my own!

THE ORPHANAGE WAS CREEPY! and now that i'm going through some of moffat's earlier episodes from tennant's era i am appalled at how he maintains the creepy factor SO HIGH CONSISTENTLY!

plot wise, i have a feeling this child thing won't be resolved till way later but i am wondering how they will factor the whole time can be rewritten theme since it seems to be thrown out there quite a lot.

This episode, however, was filled with blink and you miss it stuff...for example, who exactly was the woman in the child's room? What did she mean by looking at Amy and remarking she was dreaming? Exactly how long was Amy with the Silence (especially since they were in what could or could not be a functioning time machine)?THIS ( ... )

Yeah, with the sheer effort it took to drop that in there as nonchalantly as possible, it has got to be terribly important. Also, the fact that Amy is "sleeping" (maybe she's a Time Lady of some sort, too...?) is important. Notably, we don't get a reminder of this particular revelation at the episode's Amy memory montage. That just screams for you to notice it.

Oh, Omega. I hadn't even thought of that. By now, he's an echo himself working out of an alternate universe (at least at the end of The Three Doctors...there may be continuity about I am unaware of.) But that would make an outstanding amount of sense...

This series is going to hurt my head, I think. Well, it already is in quite a good way.

Yes it was far too random not to be significant...! Now, can Moffat pull off the "...and it was all a dream!" thing without it seeming rubbish?? ;D

Yes - Omega... His name has been bandied about for more than a year now - and Moffat could pass him off as a new big bad without confusing the new viewers too much, while making the oldschool fans squee a bit.

Yes, definitely! :)
