The Doctor's Wife

That was absolutely fantastic.

Here is a random list of stuff that will coalesce into a more coherent reaction probably upon a (much deserved) second viewing:

* HE CAN REGENERATE INTO A WOMAN. Canon now. Thanks.
* So many allusions! And a Junkyard!
* The boxes get more and more sad the more you think of them: Kind of like the ghost data in "Silence in the Library" they're distress signals that never get answered. And then I think very sad things about the Rani and the Mad Monk and the other renegades. :(
* The Doctor's speech about hope. I think I felt my heart crack a bit.
* How on earth did they get the Corsair's limbs without him regenerating...? Oh wait. That answer makes me quake slightly in my booties.
* Idris gave me a Helena Bonham Carter vibe. I think it might be because she looked as if she stepped out of Sweeney Todd.
* Corridor running! I was waiting for them to run in the crazy statuary room a la "Invasion of Time."
* Amy and Rory and the waiting motif...how horrid!
* TEN'S CONTROL ROOM! For a moment I thought they'd end up in Four's wood paneled alternate control room. But I had a brief attack of estrangement with Ten's room.
* The ending made my heart crack a little more. You think about what the TARDIS means to the Doctor...not only is it the one and only constant in his life, but it is the only one who arguably understands him. And she can't verbalize it.
* It always gets me when the Doctor cries. Because, after all he's seen, when he cries it is serious business. HEART BROKEN MORE!
* Awww, the Doctor and the bunkbeds. :D
* I was with Rory. Where does the Doctor sleep? Where is his room? I know mythos and all that, but that stuff fascinates me the most.

Theories and Attendant Crack

"The only water in the forest is the river." - I wonder if, in Grand Moff style, we're heading straight back to "Forest of the Dead" and both the diary and the screwdriver will come in handy. There is a shot in there of the empty chair where River ostensibly should be. I've always thought that was interesting.

I've been thinking about the crack because, really, what is the use of a big old cracky thing? /Doctor voice. But in all seriousness, I think something has cracked the universe in order to let something in.

Also, not new news, but there seem to be two parallel timelines. I also think that the Doctor that dies at the beginning is a parallel!Doctor that has to die on order to ultimately reset the universe.

Yes.

Fantastic episode. More Gaiman please. More Doctor/Tardis. Actually, I can hear a million writers hitting the keys everywhere right now. And it just finished airing on the west coast.

And Hugh Laurie is on Graham Norton right now. Despite having fangirled Jeeves and Wooster and A Bit with Fry and Laurie, I've watched so much House that I'm no longer used to hearing him be British.

i want a tardis, doctor who, hugh laurie, incoherent fangirling
