(But I'm glad you're eating pancakes and not brains - I think they're a little yummier.)
I love meeting authors. I met Holly Black when she came to my town and I was starstruck. My heart was beating fast. I ran out of the library elated. Holly Black is my Britney Spears. Congratulations on meeting your author and other book fans. :)
But what I really want to ask: WAS GRRM REALLY CRAZY? I love his books, but he seems... a little bit... annoying IRL. Mostly because of his fanfiction policy.
I have this theory that some of the best authors are the ones who get so crazy-involved in their own work that they start pissing other people off.
I always act like an inarticulate moron when I meet anyone with a modicum of fame (I wish I could be like my other friend...she had a casual breakfast with Neil Gaiman...). I met the singer Trisha Yearwood once, too, and could only think of terribly sad cliches. :(
He wasn't actually crazy, according to the person who met him...she just had no clue who he was and he kept saying how he had been to every World Con and kept talking about book tours and his publisher and blah blah blah and so, as it is not often you meet someone who can make these claims, she assumed GRRM was a crazy old man!
I met a number of authors (there were like 20 there) and it was cool because they all were very down to earth and awesome people. If you haven't read The Name of the Wind, you should...the writing is beautiful and the magic system is well crafted and intriguing. And, honestly, I don't read much of the sci-fi fantasy genre anymore.
Haha, that's hilarious. GRRM *looks* a lot like a crazy old man, honestly.
I think authors are cool people in general. They're people who clearly want to communicate (hence, books) but in a kind of quiet way. I've never even heard of The Name of the Wind, but if it's beautiful, comprehensive fantasy, I'll have to put it on my book list and give it a shot.
it's good to hear from you, even if zombified. I was thinking of you the other day :D
I've been well. Spent the past week sleep-deprived in the process of learning 87932107 different drugs and then all weekend eating/sleeping/watching a ton of bizarre anime. I'm on such an anime kick again, it is ridiculous. Also, Merlin, but that is news to no one.
I need to read books again (of the non-textbook variety). I miss that :(
6 inches in the mountains! When we poor souls were trying to drive. Californians can't handle rain. And good to hear from you, too!
Also, sleep-deprivation and academics go hand and hand. Also, anime is bad when you have to study. I once watched all of FMA in 2 days...during finals week. I also watched something called "Star Driver" with Miyano Mamoru in it...but it was so cracktastic I gave up after the first episode. And oh, Merlin, I am so behind on this.
Soon I'm going to post my random book rec list of randomosity (did I mention I am a wildly eclectic reader?) So you could start with some of those. :)
I swear, Miyano Mamoru is the root of all evil and/or greatness. idk if you've seen it but I blazed through all of Durarara!! in like 2 days, and when one of the characters had very distinct Tamaki-esque mannerisms I was all like HOLD UP. Of course, turned out that it was the same trademark, flamboyant voice-acting :D
doo it! I'm also very eclectic but I trust your taste so I'm sure it'll be awesome.
HAHA. People have forgotten me. I have gotten cut from so many people's lists lately that I was like "People think I am dead even though I check this thing every day!"
I'm not doing Nano, per se, but I have some original stuff I'm working on and some crazy fic. Mostly, though, I don't have the time to write between working all my 4 crazy jobs. :)

OMFG!
And my brain started quoting POTC:
"Hey, you're not dead."
"No, I'm not." *stops, looks and points* "He shot me!"
"The curse is still upon us!"
Along with the Jurassic Park and Star Wars movie that is one movie I am not allowed to watch with people.
It's nice to hear back from you.
Yes, you do need to write! You going to make an attempt at nano this year?
