BECAUSE IT AMUSES ME
Now. You would think that with Chrono Trigger DS still being fresh on everyone's mind, that my renewed love of the series was as simple as that. But no. For some reason it was not. It was a chain of hilariously fail coincidences instead that led me to this conclusion.
~lucca's apping story~
A Bit Before Christmas:
MY BROTHER: [subtly trying to seek out Christmas presents to buy] They've been remaking lots of cool games for the DS.
ME: That's my FAVORITE trend. I love the DS more than anything else.
BRO: Yeah, like Disgaea, and Chrono Trigger...
ME: That's really cool...
BRO: ...and then there's Professor Layton?
ME: I've been meaning to buy Professor Layton!! But it wasn't at the store when I went, otherwise I woulda.
BRO: I seeeee. [makes mental note]
ME: [completely forgets about the existence of Chrono Trigger DS]
A Bit AFTER Christmas:
ME: Yay! I have Professor Layton! But my DS really hasn't been working all month... Time to face the facts, I need a new one. But this sucks! I wanted to go into a video game frenzy during the holidays like everyone else!
BRO: We have the PS2 downstairs in my room. If we can find some PS or PS2 games, you can play those. It will make babysitting easier.
ME: All right, sounds like a plan! Let's do it!
[ME and BRO turn the house upside down, but find barely anything since it turns out I left most of the good games in my dorm room.]
ME: Maybe something got left in my room somewhere. Oho, look! Score! A single video game! Look what I found! [PRESENT: Chrono Cross]
BRO: Wooo! We can play that.
ME: Yeah, maybe this time I'll actually beat it. Maybe.
For the Rest of the Holiday Season:
ME: [plays Chrono Cross as if she had only just got it at Christmas!!!!]
Almost Going Back to School Time:
ME: I beat Chrono Cross yaaaaaaay!! ...What the fuck was that. I am not entirely sure what was going on there. Oh well, this just makes me want to play Chrono Trigger again, so that's what I'm gonna do!
BRO: You mean the DS version?
ME: Huh? No, I downloaded the ol' SNES emulator. ...It's coming out for the DS?
BRO: Yeah, remember? I told you about it.
ME: When is it coming out??
BRO: It's already out.
ME: Oh... oh! Wow! Okay! ...That's cool!
Those Last Few Days:
[with my old friend ZSNES, I play Chrono Trigger with the same wild abandon!!]
ME: Hahaha, oh Lucca, did you always have this much attitude? Somehow I forgot. But man, I've been playing SO MANY video games this holiday, maybe I should stop...

ME: Yeah I--I think I seriously honestly want you. Well there goes telling everyone what I've doing all this time that I've been on hiatus.
[the only solution is playing more Chrono Trigger and keeping Lucca in my party at all times even if it means I'm stranded without a real healer!!!]

ME: Oh, I'm so conflicted. I've spent all this time madly fangirling everything in the Chrono series, but is it even worth it? Now my loyalties are being torn, and I'm feeling burnt out from playing all these video games, and--would apping anyone at all even work out? Maybe I should just write some fic and get over it? Would my love stand the test of time?! Hahaha, see, time, because it's Chrono Trigger.
[not even dignifying my own terrible pun, I concentrate on academic matters for a few days instead, and prepare to come off hiatus in CFUD--]

The Land Without Internet
ME: I was going back to my normal fandom routine life! I was going back to CFUD! What the hell is this!!

ME: [WRITES AN APP]
ME: [...buys Chrono Trigger DS]
ME: I AM LOVING THE RETRANSLATION. If my Chrono Trigger love had not been revived before, it is revived right now. LUCCA, HERE I COME!
ME: [hangs complementary CT poster on her wall as a constant reminder!!!!]
'CHRONO TRIGGER' MAIN THEME MUSIC PLAYS
And so, our heroine went so far as to procrastinate on getting back her Internet so as to have more uninterrupted video game playing time. Even upon regaining her footing in the Internet world, she would not abandon her new goal! She would send her app out to betas well in advance, finally learn through trial and error how to make animated GIFs for her icons, find every CT remix to cheer her on and there are a fucking ton of CT remixes! AND IT WAS WORTH IT, DAMN IT!!
INCIDENTALLY: I haven't actually beaten the retranslation yet. WORKING ON IT! But I intend to play from it, which doesn't make much of a significant difference for Lucca except for piddly things like terms for things. I will--possibly forget and screw up translations sometimes, but this is a NOTE that I'm TRYING MY BEST
