I have mixed feelings about the first day of Summer. By the time I get used to longer days and more sunlight, the days begin to get shorter again. According to this article, an author named Eoin Colfer has been hired to complete the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series left unfinished by one of my heroes, Douglas Adams (1952-2001). Since Colfer was chosen for this project by Jane Belson, widow of Douglas Adams, I trust that Colfer is the right person for it.

David Foster Wallace is dead[1]. Evidently, he killed himself. I'm shocked, but not entirely surprised.

I switched to Mac almost 14 months ago, and generally, I'm happy with my decision. Today, for the first time, my iMac had its first Windows-style total freeze-up: keyboard would not respond, couldn't toggle between windows on the screen, etc. I turned the thing off, and then turned it back on again.
