Arthur has a fondness for dogs. He’s had them ever since he was a child, and it was only when he moved to work at the Cambridge University that he lived without one.
He’s scared of doctors and medicine. Not in general, just when said medicine is practiced on him. His father died of typhoid when he was two, during an epidemic. So his memories of his father, consisting of the last month he was alive, are him getting progressively sicker with the doctors continuously treating him. Even now, he can’t quite separate the two in his head.
This ties to the one above; Winnie is the only person that can take care of Arthur when he’s sick. Mostly because if anyone else tries, doctors, nurses, etc, he behaves horribly as a patient. But he does trust his sister completely, and tends to behave for her even when sick. It’s pretty much a loss taking him to the hospital, but thankfully he’s yet to get anything worse than a broken bone or the common cold.
Also ties to the one above! Which makes this a combo~ Basically, Winnie just takes care of Arthur in general. She cooks for him, tends to things around the house, and makes sure he doesn’t overwork himself. She’s very important to Arthur, and the only person he’s truly comfortable with. They’re both very close, even for siblings.
The first time Arthur broke a bone, he was nine years old and was just learning how to ride a bike. He ended up hitting a rock on his way downhill and landing badly on his left side. He could still write though, so he figures it could have been worse.
He got much more schooling than his sister, because with their father dead, their mother could only afford to send one of them to school despite the scholarships he received. Arthur always felt guilty about this, so he tried to teach her what he could when he was at home.
Arthur is used to being in fights. Well, beaten up is more accurate. It used to happen quite often as a kid, mostly because he would always refuse to fight back. It didn’t help that he tended to be the quiet one in class, and tended to get higher marks than anyone else in mathematics and literature.
He took up sports because his mother was worried he’d grow up with poor health. He grew to love them, mostly because he started looking at them from a mathematical and later physics point of view. He tends to balance his time between working on his theories and going out to play or ride his bike.
He’s not very good at taking care of himself. He does try to keep the place clean, and knows how to cook basic meals, along with tea, but he has absolutely no idea how you’re meant to wash clothes.
He tends to lose track of time quite easily, when he’s working. If left alone, sometimes he’ll even end up passing out on his desk, only to wake up and simply continue where he left off. It depends on how focused he is on his work.
He and Sir Oliver are actually on…somewhat pleasant terms now. There is still some lingering feelings about the decisions made during the war, but they get along well enough to work together.
When Arthur was small he was really proud of his name, mostly because he found Arthurian legends. He wasn’t too fond of the fighting and slaying monsters, but he was very happy to think that he was named after such a wise and kind person. He used to play knight in the woods with his dog, when he thought no one would find him.
