[The network device goes flying across an eerily lit room to, along with a lot of glass bottles, some suspicious looking chemicals, chunks of what look like ice, a small table, and... is that November 11They all land in a heap, and what comes in to view from the skewed device lens is the click of low heels, bare legs- another eerie glow that is a ( Read more... )

[He'd only come by out of restlessness and a particular irritation with the City today. It had been a bad idea. He had a habit of giving in to bad ideas in the heat of anger. It was almost human.

The blow of landing completely knocked the breath out of him. Stupid of him; he had forgotten how strong Nemu was supposed to be. He had a feeling he had some cuts from the broken glass, too, but none of them felt as painful as simply breathing did. He'd have to check for broken ribs later.

Right now--]

Shall we try another experiment?

[November 11 reached for the nearest sample jar and swiftly smashed it open on the wall around him. Blood rained down through his fingertips, but before it could all flow away, he'd frozen what remained of it into a dagger and was flinging it very fast at Nemu.]

[She watches him- and though at first glance, she had her usual impassive look on. But second glance might show the wrath burning a slow smolder behind her dark eyes.

Nemu could avoid that, with a flash step- but out of rage and idle curiosity, she lets it bury in to her shoulder, calculating velocity, force, by sight, before she moves as if she hadn't even been hit by something, (Mayuri-sama's design would never flinch, nor weaken from such a thing-), picking up a huge autopsy table with relative ease-

To fling at the Contractor.]

[He'd seen her move. Not her flash step, no, but still--November had a sudden suspicion, from the calm way she stood and the calmer way she moved after the shard hit, that Nemu could have avoided it.

Wounded pride like that might have only dismayed him on another day. Today it aroused his ire further.

Well, he was fast, too. Not superhumanly so, but about as close as one could get. He forced himself up onto his hands and knees even as she started moving, then sprang into action just as the table came his way. He all but flew beneath it, and then with a sweeping gesture he knocked a beaker of something that looked watery enough onto the floor, splashing a trail of water leading up to Nemu. He landed with one hand in it, not even wincing at the slight burn. There must have been something acidic in the liquid, but he'd accepted that risk, and he was lucky that it was too dilute to do him more than discomfort.

A line of ice crackled out from his hand towards Nemu's feet. He was aiming to freeze her to the spot she stood.]

[Now that she had taken that experimental injury, she was no longer willing to accept further damage to this body, and once she realized his planned action, the flung water and unbroken trail, she stepped in to shunpo, left, right, behind-

She would not fault him. By all accounts, against humans he would be quite effective. Even angry- even with the slight shows of anger on her face, thin lipped and dark eyes, she would acknowledge that.

Even as Nemu moved to grab the Contractor by the front of his suit, hurl him back against that wall, knowing but too enraged to know the consequence of ticking down to midnight.

- She was angry, but not enough to kill a valuable research subject. - Injure it, though...]

[There's a curse today, and Chase reminds himself of it even as he switches on the mic. The real question, of course, isn't whether there's a curse, but which of the people in this scenario is under its influence.]

Nemu? What the hell's going on?

This is a test. Can you hear this message?

[He'd managed to be pulled away by other things until his network device starts sounding like it's shattering. Alright, facts first.]

Yes.

[Computed? Good.]

Do you need help?

Help...

[there's a pause, as if she's surveying something... debating...]

It would not be prudent to exercise further kidou in this vicinity, so perhaps a medical examination for my companion would be prudent...
