Война и мир

I recently learned that my school's library has the DVD set of Sergei Bondarchuk's version of War and Peace. Supposedly, this is the longest screen adaptation of the novel that is available.

We finished the first disc tonight.

We have no idea what's going on.

Somehow I doubt reading the book is going to help.

If you like nineteenth-century novels, I would actually really recommend War and Peace. Possibly abridged. I self-abridged it (by skipping all the historical and philosophical digressions, since I was mostly interested in finishing the damn thing), but it actually has wonderful characters and an exciting, dramatic plot (or plots I should say.)

I can't help you with the film, though. I think I saw pieces of a BBC (or possibly A&E) War and Peace in school. Mostly I remember that they got Andrei's hair wrong.
