Kai circled White warily, trying to ignore the smirk on her face. Okay, so maybe he'd never beaten her yet, there was a first time for everything and he was tired of losing. So what if she'd been training in martial arts since before she could walk, who cared about that? Today was the day he was going to win.

He feinted to the left then swung right, only for White to block him easily and duck, twisting until she had his arm up behind his back and him completely immobilised. This officially sucked.

"You're giving yourself away," she told him as she released him. "Minimise your body movement."

"Easy for you to say," he complained, rubbing at his shoulder. "You've been doing this forever, I haven't."

She gave him a sympathetic smile but returned to her 'ready' stance nonetheless. "You're getting better," she said encouragingly. "You just need to keep practicing."

"You sound like Yellow," Kai muttered. Yellow was always going on about training and practicing and it had gotten old really fast. He knew all that stuff anyway and he wasn't an idiot: he knew he needed to keep training if they were going to beat the Orgs for good, that didn't mean he needed to hear Yellow constantly going on about it.

"Yellow's just trying to keep us alive," she reminded him, unleashing a blow to the head that Kai just about managed to block. Which unfortunately left him open to the kick in the ribcage that had him staggering backwards. He didn't know why he did so badly against her, he did just fine against the Orgs, damn it.

"I know that," he retorted once he had his breath back. "That doesn't mean he has to be so obnoxious about it."

White shrugged and they returned to circling each other, looking for an opening. White was fast, Kai knew, so if he wanted to beat her he'd have to be faster, be smarter, be the first to seize the opportunity when it presented itself.

Ah! There! White had over-extended just enough to let him past her guard and he seized the moment, for once getting her in the same hold she'd caught him with earlier. "Gotcha," he said smugly, savouring the sweet taste of victory while he had the chance.

Which wasn't for long because she hooked a foot around his ankle and the next thing Kai knew he was sprawled on the floor with White holding him firmly in place.

"Ow," he complained. "That hurts." He was going to have bruises everywhere by the end of the day, he just knew it. And okay, so maybe he was whining a little but he'd finally had the upper hand for once. "And you're enjoying this way too much," he added, tilting his head to look up at her. "I know you are."

White blushed and let go, stepping back to let him stand. Huh, White was kind of cute when she blushed. "I think we're done for today," she announced. "I'm going to go and see if Tetomu needs any help. I'll see you later, Blue."

"Sure," Kai said blankly, wondering if he'd missed something. "Later."

Maybe he'd go swim with GaoShark for a bit, he thought. At least that wasn't going to be painful or confusing.
