So, as people might have known, I'm a bit annoyed that the sequels to The Golden Compass have been in danger of not being made due to lack of earnings in the U.S. After watching TGC online (illegally of course) I started really yearning for the sequels again. Yes but this select folk of "religious" people in the U.S. can hardly be categorized as any sort of overwhelming majority. I think most people in the U.S. claim to have some sort of religion, but actually practicing it? Different story. Anyway, steering away a little bit.

Course not. But they don't have to be common, they only have to be louder than everyone else. The people who aren't psycho about religion don't talk about it that much; the ones that are psycho about it all have bullhorns and broadcast it at anyone unfortunate enough to be near them.

They also wind up roping people in with them. This one girl I'm studying with who came from the US said she "didn't believe in" and "can't read" His Dark Materials because she heard it was about "two little kids who kill God." The only place they'll get that is from someone who grossly oversimplifies the series or hasn't read it in the first place.
