Thanks to what may or may not be a broken foot, I've spent a few quality days not at work and playing on my computer instead. It's been fun. Even better, it's kept me off my feet, so I'm in much less pain. I could get used to this.
I've spent some serious time going through my friends page. This has involved lots of pics since
stargateficrec is one of my watched communities. I've missed fanfic. More fun than the fic, though, is reading all the entries of my friends, and I have yet again come to the conclusion that my flist rocks. It makes me want to travel to another country to go to a con and hang out with my virtual friends.
I've come into some unexpected funds, and I splurged on some CDs. German musicals to be precise. I studied a great deal of German in my youth; in fact, German was my first teaching certification. I'm a music fiend anyway, and having the lyrics in German has always helped me learn new words, phrases and even verb tenses. What a lovely way to get an education.
I've managed to pick up a few CDs in the twenty years since I was last in Germany, some musicals, some not. I'm still trying to replace some of my old, wornout tapes- without a whole lot of success since the music is twenty years old- as well as trying to pick up some newer music. Youtube and Yahoo!Musik Deutschland have given me a chance to hear stuff before I search for it online. I've picked up a few CD on Amazon, but if I really want the selection, I need to go to a German, Austrian or Swiss site.
Well, I found a Swiss site and blew some serious Euros (instead of dollars) on six CDs. I even found Cats, which was always one of my favorites. I had a copy, but it got lost in a move, and I've missed it ever since.
I am definitely in my happy place.
