For the last couple weeks Susan hadn't felt like herself at all, barely even coming out of her room unless it was for a shirt behind the bar or to get herself some food. She had officially gotten inside of her own head, the way that she could get sometimes, and was going over that evening with Gabriel over and over again, obsessing over every move that she made and trying to pinpoint what had gone wrong
( ... )
Hannah hovered in the doorway to Susan's bedroom, not typically one to push her way inside, especially when that look was so apparent on her best friend's face. The two of them had long worked out their ticks, the little give aways to their own insecurities. Susan was always better at hiding hers than Hannah was.
But after all this time, it was getting easier for Hannah to understand.
She frowned, stepping inside the room now, and perching herself on the edge of the bed.
"You alright?" she asked. "You've been... you've been a little out of character lately, Bones."
Susan was forever grateful to live with her best friend, knowing that there was always somebody there to come looking for her when she fell into her funks. In turn, of course, she was there to do the same for Hannah and that made her worry a little bit less.
"I screwed up-" she started, her face all twisted up and a lips pressed.
It was rare that Susan got this like. Hannah didn't often see her curled up, the tension settling into her face typically something she saw on herself, staring back at her from the bathroom mirror.
Her brow furrowed as she brought herself closer to Susan on the bed.
"I'm sure its not as bad as it seems," she offered. "What happened?"

That was an understatement.
"I screwed up really bad."
That was a little bit better.
