AnOTP: Melisande/Miranda

At her usual post again, Melisande is sprawled in a chair by the fire, holding a glass of red wine in one hand and a book loosely propped on her lap in the other, her face very still and quiet for the moment, almost pensive.

Miranda wanders in quietly, and does not notice Melisande at first. It is the way the firelight reflects through the wine that catches her eye, and she pauses to look at it.

Melisande feels someone's eyes and turns her head, slightly warily, but when she sees a wide eyed Miranda looking at her, she relaxes and smiles. "Hello," she murmurs softly. "It's very nice wine - that's why it looks like that. I brought it all the way from home." Her voice is not patronizing, but rather soothing and gentle, just making small talk.

"Where is your home?" she asks, looking up at Melisande. "Be there none such here?"

"I have found a little, curiously enough, when I look for it," Melisande says, seeming distracted for a moment, then her attention snaps back. "I'm from Terre d'Ange. Might I have the honor of your acquaintance?"
