I went to school minus my backpack. "Why?" you might ask. BECAUSE IT WAS CONGE' DAYYYYYY, YAAAAAAAY. (Conge' means party in French. I think. Basically what happens is that we get to do random stuff and not have class.)
his morning before the Conge' we had our open-mike all upper school assembly (like always) and then FOREIGN LANGUAGE AWARDS! (Haha, actually not THAT exciting but none of the superpreppyintimidatingpopular kids were there, so we cheered for everyone because we FELT like it). Thennn we had music practice for mass/ conge leader meeting. Carrie and I had signed up to be conge' leaders, but we were alternates so we still had to go to the meeting, but it turned out we were needed so it's all cool. (Conge' leaders are groups of 2 high-schoolers that lead a group of about 10 students from the lower, middle and upper schools.) Then we joined the people at music practice and they were just wasting time. They even ended up having all the summer birthday people (like me, Aug 5, DON'T FORGET!) go up in front of everyone so they could sing to us.
LITURGY! It was cool, Fr. East was the celebrant so it was fun/exciting. I actually sang and it wasn't so bad.
THE CONGEEEEE! They announced the theme, "Traditioooon. Tradition!" a la Fiddler on the Roof, and Carrie went to pick up the little kids while I collected middle schoolers. But, as it turned out, the seniors we were subbing for showed up. I was completely fine with handing over my position seeing as they are seniors, but Carrie was pissed. I ended up going back to my own group with Anne which was veryyyyy cool. I made friends with the youngin's. We had our lunch, played Bingo with GOLD AND BLUE M&M's, and then started the NUN HUNT.
THE NUN HUNT! Our group of 14ish JK - 12 graders set out with the rest of the school on a quest to find our 6 nuns. Each nun hid outdoors and handed a colored slip of paper which read "I found a nun!" to the person who found them. Our group found 4 of them (one behind the nusery under some sort of burlap sack thing, one behind another building smushed next to the fence that borders NavyMed in a garbage bag, Sr. Smith behind a pile of sand in a shed, and Sr. Jenkins on the porch of the Book Barn.) As per usual, nobody found our headmistress, Sr. Dyer because she, the 70-some year old woman, was DRESSED IN CAMO WITH A PAINTED FACE IN A TREE!
KENIN. After the nun hunt, we had a concert with this local band called Kenin. It's made up a few (pretty hot) 20something. They aren't amazing, but they're pretty cool. It's a sight to see about 300 girls ages 4-19 in blackwatch plaid jumping to the music of a rock band in front of their teachers. Colleen, Sasha, and I skanked a bit. Colleen took pictures with her fancy camera.

All in all pretty good conge'.

AFTER THE CONGE'.
We went straight from school to WJ (a public school which I DO NOT attend) where we saw John Cassell (a girl in my carpool's prom date/my neighbor and old schoolmate whom I have known since I was 5) and my mom picked him up as she dropped me off. I met up with Shelley and learned that I was to be a curtain puller for the show that night. (For all of you people not familiar with plays and such: it is very atypical for someone who does not attend a co-ed school to be involved with that school's plays.) I saw a bunch of people who I hadn't seen in a while. We ran through the play once, which was crazy for me because I hadn't the SLIGHTEST clue as to what I was doing. While eating pizza after the runthrough I made friends with a 1st grader who is in the play. We (Shelly, the 1st grader Ellen, Eric, and I) walked to Giant to buy make-up for Eric, a boy. Then we had the show, which was pretty good. I think I did well considering I had one run through and had never seen/heard the play before.

Tomorrow I get to wear a headset in addition to doing the curtain and moving a table.
