Hi from Heathrow

So I'm in Heathrow, and I've just spent 5 pounds on an hour of wireless. I sort of felt required since Mom subsidized this fancy new iPhone for me. It's cool, I'm not going to lie. I'm getting used to typing on it, too. Slowly

Domestic: No pillows, no food (unless you BUY it), less space, a blanket only if you fight for it...

Yep, even international in coach is better than domestic. And sometimes there are little gift bags of earplugs, eye patches, individual movie screens... Long flights still suck, but it all helps.

I thought the chi-chi shops in Heathrow were like TV for sleep-deprived zombie people. You know, not for actual comprehension or buying, just for meandering examination in dazed amazement.

I hated not knowing my gate number. But I found Heathrow gates slightly easier to find than another English airport (whose name currently escapes me). Almost missed my flight, circling the shops THREE TIMES trying desperately to find the entrance to my stupid gate once they FINALLY posted it. Ugh.

On the way back not knowing my gate bothered me a lot less for some reason. I got picked for a random screen, and the guy did it in such a way that it didn't even piss me off. (He said they were screening people who were reading Terry Pratchett books, heh.) I boggled over the fact that we got both a hot meal and "tea" (a sandwich and a mini-muffin) on the way back.

On our flight to CA you had to pay for a blanket. No lie ($7 for a "nap pack" with a pillow and a blanket.)

My flight to Munich was only about $100 more than what we usually pay to go to CA.
