Mister Smith looked at the attractive, perky redhead and knew instantly that he liked her. There was a glow about her. Something that spoke of goodness and kindness and caring. Yes, there was a darkness there, too, but no one was ever completely black and white. He, more than anyone, knew that from personal experience.

"Hello," he said, trying to look as inoffensive as possible. "I'm sorry to bother you. I hope you don't mind my asking, but . . .what's a Scooby?"

Willow looked around.

"Oh!" She didn't know there was anyone there. This nice looking young man moved really quietly.

She smiled at her visitor.

"Ah. I see," he said with a nod, though he still really didn't. Though he might not know why the word Scooby seemed to fit the group she described, he certainly knew what a Slayer was. Where he was from, the Slayer was a myth, but here . . .well, he'd long since discovered that myths could be very very real.

He smiled back at her and extended his hand in greeting. "I'm Mister Smith. I'm . . . just kind of passing through."

Maybe she should have explained more. She saw something in his eyes that said he'd accept it though. Around here, she guessed a lot of people accepted a lot of things that they weren't used to.

"Willow Rosenberg." She took his hand. She didn't shake hands much but his grip was firm and somehow reassuring.

She held his hand a bit too long maybe; she wasn't used to visitors who weren't sort of family and --- "Oh. Would you like to sit down?" Manners, yes, Willow. Manners.
