I am immensly thrilled to be getting my first publication this year
Firstly, congratulations! I'd love to get into writing comics, but my art skills suck. I do have a graphic-esque type novel that I need illustrated though, so maybe that's my way into the industry! Well done though - post links when it's published?
Secondly, yes - X Phile and comic geek = made of win. And I love Charles Adlard and Stefan Petrucha.
I will be definitely be yoinking these icons, and crediting =)
yay, yoink away! and thanks for the congrats! i'm pretty hyper about this. will surely post about it as soon as it's out! and hey good luck with the novel! what's it about?
I can imagine you are - it's great news. Shall look forward to reading it when it's out =)
I've got two novels that need illustrating. One's a sci fi one that I've been working on - on and off anyway - for the last few years, the other about a girl who kills herself because of her ex and ends up haunting him in the afterlife. That one I'm finding harder to write because it's almost a bit too autobiographical, but I think it'd lend itself to a graphic novel quite well.
too autobiographical... i don't know, man. have you ever haunted anyone? *g*
aw, i wish you guys could check out my stuff when it's ready. but it's a pretty local thing i'm afraid, and of course not in english. (there was a contest, and my story got into an anthology about an important wwii event in our capital, a rising - a very emotional thing here, also for young people like me. all the other stories that won are by professionals - and guys, lol - so i am even more happy.)
Oh my goodness! These brought back some really wonderful memories. Thank you. I have all of these issues too. And I love the new comics that are out right now, but these are classic from classics. Well done. #2 and 42 are my favourites. I'll credit you when I use them!
First, OMG THESE ARE *AWESOME*. It has been forever since anyone made XF comics icons, and these are chosen and cropped brilliantly. I saved a bunch. LOVE.
Then also, woohoo for Adlard and Petrucha! They're also my favorites; Adlard's M&S were kinda weird looking, but he had something about the mood right. Way better than the later Barbie!Scully and longlegged!Mulder who never looked like they were actually standing on the ground or moving like normal people. And Petrucha's stories were totally the best.
ha! i knew you'd approve of these! i always get all tingly when i see you use your comic icons. <3 thanks.
ADLARD & P ARE TOTALLY THE SHIT. you're exactly right about the mood. also yes as for the other artists. i like purcell's art in the sense that it's very, very classical - like the golden age superhero comics? it's not very realistic, more cartoony, which has its own magic, but of course it makes me laugh a lot, too: scully's such a tall babe! i think alex saviuk was the one who got their faces best: ok, his mulder does look a bit artificial sometimes, but then again, whose doesn't (yes david i am looking at you). (of course denham's likenesses are the best, but as we all know, he traces like crazy.)
Such yay. Have you seen the manga X-files? I've only glanced at them (untranslated, and Japanese and I are even farther apart than...well...) but they look like fun.
Love these and taking many. Will credit. Particularly love # 3 and # 42.
I HAVE SEEN ONLY THE COVERS OF THE MANGAS but DAYMN i would love to check them out!!! :D they look like total fun! the japanese are so wonderfully crazy. and thanks! :D
One of the local comic book stores used to have them on the shelf. I don't know if they're still there or not, but they were quite amusing to thumb through.
