I've been thinking about opening a Facebook account for quite a while now, but thanks to the largely negative publicity they've received regarding their privacy policy, I am less inclined to do so

LJ is nice. I find facebook pretty much useless, and that usefulness is purely by virtue of people who've left LJ turning up there and chat. (I was never an IRC person... if I wanted real-time, I'd use a phone, but I've encountered enough phone-phobic (for whatever reason) that it's nice to have some RT interactions.)
The other day I saw a youtube (telling that someone thought it clever to base their *brand* on onomatopoeia with boobtube - an dnot for porn.) that included the phrase "The ROI on social networks is that 5 years from now you'll still have a business." I remember you, you are welcome to read my posts if you're interested in what's up with me, and I'd be delighted to read your posts in this forum if you put any up.
Well, flattered that you ask...in my opinion, I wouldn't take the position. Saudi Arabia is by far one of the most repressive countries in the world...it can be a much more dangerous place to be than the governments of the U.S. or Canada would have you believe.
you know I only do that cuz I love you, right? I don't particularly like ice cream. I'd start demanding you take me out and buy me jewelry, but you might get the wrong idea. :-P
in other news, it almost looks like we live here, and we may be getting a table tomorrow, so if you guys wanna come over this weekend (and K2 did agree to buy me ice cream) maybe we can have dinner.
