we're moving to Richmond. it's official. i'm getting my old job back at the RTD and things are suddenly very exciting and hectic for us once again. Thank God! financial security here we come

I hope you don't see the Richmond boomerrang curse as a regression because I don't think it's a bad thing at all. You'll have decent work and nice cost of living here, plus lots of cool friendly support all around!
Also, pay attention to what Anthony said. You could rent a decent little house if you go west a little more and get a little more distance from the uglier aspect of urban life. It won't take long to build up a little dough to close on a house once ya'll get situated.
And by the way, I never did tell you and Corey that I was bummed out to have missed you guys when you came by my work last month! At least I'll see ya'll soon. And thanks for the slick fancy-pants issues of Snakepit!
no... we don't see this as a step backwards at all... indeed, this is exactly what we need to be able to move forward with everything and we're both very excited.
we've seen a lot of 3 bedroom houses and apartments online for real cheap in highland park, but i seem to remember that area being sort of sketchy... does anyone remember?
i wouldn't suggest highland park. the 'sketchiness' varies greatly from block to block -- so unless you are going to be looking at the apt/house in person and doing some driving around the neighborhood first to check it out...yeah, might not be the best place to move. i'm quite familiar with the city because of the work i do and would be happy to give you some insight on any areas that have places you guys are considering renting.
i agree that the area around libbie/patterson would be a good area to try for. also, around where josh and i rent is pretty decent too. i'll let you know if i see anything around!
thanks for the tip! any opinion on the area between hillard and dumbarton east of staples mill? also, i know grace street has really good and really bad blocks... how are the blocks just east of thompson?
agh! this is a pain in the ass... we're just going to have to drive down i think
