I hear ya! For some musicians it's the same way. I've been playing live in varying degrees for ten years and I'm still not making a living at it. I've long since paid my dues (playing a ton of shitholes around Ontario) nd I'm not sure when (if ever) the "big break" is gonna come.

Yeah until you're making money for yourself with the band and making money FOR the band then you're making a living. I went from playing four nights a week in a cover band for about 9 months playing everywhere from Sarnia to Brockville and as far north as Sudbury to playing for the occasional $30 here and there (and mostly for free beer [which isn't bad but beer doesn't pay the bills]).

I try to only tell good friends how disgusted I am with trying to do ANYTHING with ANYBODY, who won't pay (fuck the can't; there are other ways to barter for what you want, if you really needed it), or can't do it with the bigger picture in mind. I'll take as long as my life to release something pure, thank you....
