Now, I haven't been keeping up with modern horror too much, but...is it me, or have final girls become less "brave/clever/resourceful" and more "lucky enough to be the last one attacked/saved by their boyfriend and/or brother" lately?

I might have to change my answer to "it depends," though. It depends on the movie. Mainstream stuff is heading in that direction, but female-centric horror and some of the better more independent underground stuff isn't as bad.

I am hoping that The Descent 2 is decent about it. It would be pretty ridiculous after The Descent 1 if it wasn't really. Any other suggestions? Not even necessarily for the quality Final Girl (though that certainly is a plus) but for horror in general bearing in mind that supernatural/ghost stuff (ie Paranormal Activity) makes me FLIP SHIT and sleep even less than I already do :(
