A long and winding road from Virginia leads me back home

Riding back from virginia, this song stood out as something i should remember. It's a James Taylor song that I hadn't heard, and I have the album because my dad made a CD of it for me. Here's the lyrics, it's "Places in My Past" from the Mudslide Slim Album.

After July 7th (it's when I get back...), you'll always have a place in California. Just give me a couple hours notice.

The road trip would've been that much better with you there, so you know.

Thanks :) I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to stand and possibly save enough to possibly head by around my birthday, cause that would rock. By the way, did you like the transformer t-shirts I linked you to?

Quite!
You actually had me seriously considering purchasing one or two of 'em. I just couldn't figure out where to ship 'em (house is not an option: too much time and space in between), so I've decided to wait until a little later.

Oh, and with regards to your delaying until your birthday: that's perfect. It'd give me a chance to figure out where the best place to view an ocean sunset is. *grin*.

One issue with that song that I have is that nobody really has to have friends they "used to know." If you refuse to talk to a friend you knew than they are a friend you just don't talk to anymore, and it is your choice as to whether they are a friend or not. Nobody has to have a friend they "used to know" as long as they make the effort to still be their friend.

If you love the times you spent, or the memories, and you don't feel as close to the friend you shared them with, then talk to your friend about the memories. But that's just me, I am a person who is full of themselves and really not old enough to have any definitely helpful input on anything beyond what my few years have taught me. Who are these friends that you are sorry for, the memories the song brings forth?

Do you mind if I ask who you are before I respond?

Of course, but chances are you don't know who I am, lol. My name is Richard and I used to go to Tech (dropped out a year ago because of grades), a few friends of mine are of LJ and I was greatly bored and ended up surfing through their pages, then started clicking random names, and ended up on yours. The screen name caught my eye. Don't worry about responding if you don't feel like responding to a total stranger, just thought I would add my input. :-)

Nah, I don't mind. the question just has different meanings coming from different people. Sort of a subtext thing. The long and short is, I like songs basically for a few things, but this has very soothing lyrics and makes me feel that happy reminescing feeling. I do have friends that i used to keep in touch with that I have grown apart from. I think that people can change to the point they don't really belong as friends, mostly because I have a strong belief on what a friend is. It doesn't change the fact they had fun together, or things along those lines. But mostly, I was just saying this song is very fun and fits my style.
