[It had taken some scourging of the shops and some help from Shirley to pick out something appropriately respectable for this party, and her disposable income fund was definitely hurting after it, but Asellus sat at a table, a glass of claret in her hand that almost matched the eyes behind her mask; she sipped very carefully, as her dress would be ruined by any staining. Normally she stayed away from white as a rule, but something about this dress had called to her, and it both made her skin look darker than the milk-pale it had been when she arrived in Anatole and accented how delicate her features could be.

She might even stay quiet long enough to keep that impression alive. (But it was unlikely.)]
