[Verity seems to already be fairly accustomed to her new living situation. She’s sitting in a big comfortable-looking chair, with a big comfortable-looking bulldog snuggled into her lap. It seems to be slightly on the crowded side up there and her lap is a bit dwarfed by the animal laying on her but he’s snuffling happily and she pets his head with ( Read more... )

[He recognizes her--another tenant within the house. He had not yet the opportunity or occasion to speak with her, but this topic is very relevant to his interests. And personal experience.]

I'm quite convinced that it is not random at all, either. Though, this is vastly different from the last time I was, ah... removed from my timeline.

[Largely, because he was not dead at that time.]

[He's familiar to her too, as both a fellow tenant and as a person related to Aximili.]

You've been removed from your timeline before? Do you know the reasons for it?

[Because even if they don't seem to be related incidents, the continuum is complex. You never do know.]

I'm not convinced that this situation is entirely dissimilar to my previous experiences being pulled from my own proper time. But unfortunately, I really haven't any solid proof.

[He scratches at the back of his neck a bit awkwardly.] The previous time was due to the meddling of a godlike being. He required my presence elsewhere.

[To put it as simply as possible. Yes, he still resents the Ellimist a great deal, though he can recognize the necessity of his actions.]

To my knowledge, I have not engaged with any being in this place yet who may be responsible for bringing people here, which is in part why I do not think this is an entirely similar situation to my prior experience with such a thing. But, as you said, with the number of people familiar with others here, it cannot be random, either.

But not knowing the force behind this phenomenon makes me... wary. And if it is a sentient force, I wish to know why they are doing this, what they are getting out of it. With the Ellimist--the godlike being I spoke of--with him, at least, I did eventually discover the purpose for which he had maneuvered me.

What is your experience with this type of situation?

[She switches over to private just because there are some people - and the timelines they come from - who need to be protected from the knowledge of time travel. You really can't be too careful when catastrophic incongruities hang in the balance.]Yes, Aximili told me something about the Ellimist, I believe ( ... )
