[There seem to be a lot of newcomers lately. Interesting. He hadn't heard anything about a set pattern for when people arrived...

Something else to look into. For now, he gives the person his most mild stare and remarks,] The Door brought you here, same as... most of us. Same as everyone you'll see replying to this, anyway.

[Slight pause.]

[Jace's eyes flash to the side, in the direction of where you can see the door to his quarters behind him, and he snorts] The door. Thanks. Very enlightening.

[He trains his gaze back on the person addressing him, examining his features and coloring, as he drawls] Yes, vampire. You know: pointy teeth, disturbing diet, hideous fashion sense? They're usually hard to miss. This one more than others, seeing as how he was bleeding like a stuck pig all over me when I carried him through the Portal.

[He chuckles.] Not that door. It's... hnnnn.

[He fiddles around with the device a little, and eventually (after turning the Forge off and on a few times) manages to link a map.] There. That's got the basic layout of Anatole, though it's missing the exact location of some things.

[He raises his eyebrows at the scrutiny.] Sorry, the only person I've seen covered in blood lately is you.

Lucky you. [It's a mumbled musing while he takes a look at the map, brows pulling together]

So there's a dock. Unless here in Anatole dock means something other than 'place where all the boats live'.

The last time I checked, the kind of magic used for inter-dimensional travel didn't take wrong turns either, and yet here I am. [He sounds largely cheerful about it, but then again, he does about most things.] And as for kidnapping, it is a bit of a puzzle, since we don't know exactly who or even what has brought all of us here, see.

Well, I wasn't talking about the kind of magic used for popping down to the grocery store. [If anything, this person's cheerfulness about this all is decidedly off putting] 'All of us'? Do you have anything else that you'd like to add to make that any more foreboding?

Ahhh, well, I wasn't sure that those "portals" you were talking about had to do with magic. [Makes a small, almost musical sound and taps his cheek.] Well, I don't know about that, but I certainly can come up with something if you really want me to. Oooh, how about this? You're stuck. The way you came here is kind of one-way. It might be possible to get back where you came from, but that seems to happen completely at random, and no one seems to know how. [What is trolling.]

[He mulls that over] This one likes to insist on going by 'Simon'. If I were a vampire, I wouldn't be caught undead with a name like that, but he's as stubborn as he is irritating.

[ So, the city pulled her here. Cities aren't alive. It's residual magic. That's just carelessness. People really need to learn to tie their loose ends up. ]
