The pieces were slowly falling, one-by-one coming down and fitting into place, Yazoo's hand the one guiding them. It was precision work, but he thrilled a little in the process, thrived in being useful to Jenova, the alien cells he worshiped, knew intimately as Mother.
Of course, there were loose ends to tie, gaps to fill, measures to take in order to see that the picture was, ultimately, completed. It wouldn't be easy, and he had to do it alone, but he would accomplish the task set before him... he would pave the way for Mother's return, for Reunion.
Everything was going according to plan; all that remained now was to acquire a Forge that nobody else was using, a means to broadcast the bait by which he hoped to lure Cloud out to him. Yazoo could think of only one person in all of Anatole with no use for their Forge, and they weren't even really a person anymore. A specter, or one of sorts, and one that had grown increasingly irksome, no less. He faintly relished the idea of taking something from Shirley, the pesky haunt that had dared to speak poorly of Mother, had dared to tell him that he was unloved by her!
After all, what use had a ghost for communicative technology, anyway?
He entered the Ruins on foot, tracked the dead woman by Forge to an area that was, while heavily layered in Mist, a little more beautiful than places he had seen throughout the desolate aftermath of whatever it was that had laid the outsides of Anatole to such waste. And, after a little poking around, the device appeared within view, carelessly abandoned upon a cluster of smooth stones and boulders.
A small smirk tugged the corners of his mouth upwards, and he ventured toward it, with no intent to waste time.
