Communication has always been very important to me. I've prided myself on my ability to write. I've done live theatre, improv, and sketch comedy. I've lectured to rooms from 2 to 200 people. I've had one of my pieces performed on NPR. I have even used my skills to earn a rental car upgrade. And yet

Glad that you now live thousands of miles away from the most dangerous people in this context. Interesting that you chose a career involving computers, which:

Good for you. A painful childhood can sometimes result in a very unique and valuable perspective on life, a creative nature, and a wicked sense of humor. I'm not saying it's worth all that, but that you deserve to exercise what meager gifts it left you with. I hope that your efforts help to exorcise your past and also to clear the air with your family.
