I am now less than two hours away from my first art class in about 25 years. I am taking a "Drawing Fundamentals 101" class at the local art center. As a victim of bad elementary art school teachers, and a short-sighted person with poor depth perception, I can only wonder what I'll end up with ( Read more... )

Oooooo, big spaces! I've always enjoyed doing Big enlargements. Once, when I walked into a photography store to purchase supplies for my class (co-incidence that my instructor also managed this particular branch & that the students received a discount on supplies? Uh Huh.:), a new salesman attempted to talk me into trading my old (I'd bought it used) TLR 120mm camera for a new Nikon 35mm. Instructor/Manager stood back and smiled; salesman couldn't see him.

"Not interested," I said.

"Why not," he asked.

"Because I like to make big prints," I said.

"Well, if you use Panatomic-X (an ASA 16 B&W film, where ASA = ISO today), than you can do 11 x 16's easy," he said.

"I do 11 x 16 routinely with this," I replied, "and when I use Panatomic-X I buy one of your spray emulsion kits and sensitize the wallBig Google Eyes ( ... )
