Applications are currently CLOSED!
Bonus round verdicts will be posted on the 7th. Applications will open AGAIN from the 15th through the 21st for our regular application cycle. Review for the regular cycle will take place from the 22nd to the 25th.
While Scorched has moved to Dreamwidth, we continue to accept applications on Livejournal for your convenience. An invite codes will be provided upon acceptance.
Before you go any farther, please check the Taken Character List to make sure your character is free. We also highly recommend reading the Application and Game Mechanics FAQ, which contains all the info on characters we accept, the application process, etc. If your character has powers, it's a good idea to look at the Characters and Powers FAQ as well, to see whether any abilities need to be limited or removed.

character name: FIRSTNAME LASTNAME PLEASE.
Fandom: The canon/source they originate from. Please specify which version of a canon if there's more than one.
Timeline: The point from which they're taken.
character's age: Best guess if you don't know for sure. Ranges are okay!
powers, skills, pets and equipment: Let us know what the character can do and what they have with them. Try to be reasonably detailed - we don't expect D&D mages to list out every spell in their spellbook, but "various physical enhancements" is not acceptable without an explanation of what "various" means in this context. PLEASE NOTE WHETHER AN ABILITY IS CANON OR ADDED ONLY FOR THE GAME. Additional abilities are OPTIONAL. If your character already has abilities or you just don't want them to have any, feel free to skip them!
canon history: Explain the character's backstory and role in canon, or provide a link to an objective source for your specific character's history. If written out, the history does not need to be incredibly detailed! Hitting the highlights of your character's role in your own words is fine, especially for a longer canon or major character. If you choose to link, it must be to an "objective" source (such as a wikia - obviously this isn't really objective, but it's better than a link to your personal fansite, for example) and the link must lead to a page about the character, not simply a series overview.
personality: Important section! Let us know what your character is like, and what makes him or her tick. Make us feel like we know them.
why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting? IF YOUR CHARACTER IS 13 OR YOUNGER, PLEASE INCLUDE AN EXPLANATION OF HOW THEY CAN TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES (WITHOUT RELYING ON CANONMATES). Generally, you don't need to say very much, but if your character is one that could be considered inappropriate for a game with strong survival, psychological horror and supernatural elements (e.g. characters from light-toned, comedic or slice-of-life type fandoms) then you will definitely want to put thought into this. Please think in terms of why the character is appropriate for the game, rather than what holes in the cast you perceive the character as filling - something like "the character's canon is survival based, so they're accustomed to dealing with monsters" would, for example, be preferred over something like, "Anatole needs more healers."
Previously Played Information - Relevant only for the previously played
previous game: Link please! Even if it's f-locked. If the game has been deleted, just let us know.
length of time there: Self-explanatory. You don't have to be superspecific - for the most part we'd just like to make sure you were there for a reasonable length of time.
important development and/or events in your previous game: Please let us know what kinds of changes have occurred in your character's life, personality, relationships, etc.
notes: Anything else you think we should know about your character post-...your previous game? New relationships, new abilities, new limbs?
Writing Samples
Network Post Sample:
At least a few sentences showcasing your character's voice in a Network style post, or a links to an example of a post by your character in a previous game, on Dear Mun, in a musebox, etc. Your character must be the original poster, and please remember that we're looking at the sample as a representation of your playing style. So linking us to cracky threads, for example, isn't beneficial! This must be network style!
Third Person Sample:
A sample at least 300 words in length. Show us your writing skill, and how your character thinks. (Strong preference goes to samples taking place primarily in the game's setting) OR a link to one example of your character participating in a log. Action logs are acceptable if there is substantial writing involved.
