Ordinarily, Moira might have simply declined and passed on, but it was such a pleasant surprise to hear another familiar accent in a stranger's voice on this so thoroughly small and Americanized island, that she actually slowed and smiled.

"I daresay I've got more'n enough already, but thank ye," she said, though she carried only a notebook in the crook of her elbow. "What is it ye've got there?"

The woman's voice brought a smile to Amy's face. There wasn't any elaborate reason, other than the fact that it struck a chord in the part of her that was a bit homesick. Not enough to wax endlessly on, for she had Rory and something of an adventure, but enough to make her a bit crabbit.

Flipping the cover, she frowned for a moment before holding it up and smiling a bit. "Highland Dragon. It's absolute rubbish, I'm sorry."

"Och, it sounds it," said Moira, and the expression of distaste crossing her face just then was mixed with a liberal enough dose of amusement to soften it. "From the bookshelf, I take it? There's no shortage o' rubbish o' that sort from it. Ye new around here, lass?" She was sure, after all, that a girl like her would soon be noticed and not readily forgotten, with her distinctive hair and accent both.

"Aye. It seems to feel that I need a bit more, kilts lifted and bodices ripped, that sort of thing." It had the makings of a good night of fun or a decent night's wage, but that didn't make Amy want to read about it. Throw in a couple of dragons and she was positive she didn't want to read it.

Desperation be damned. "But I am new. Do I have a sign about my neck or is it just easy to tell?"
