Did I mention that I have a niece, Mayson? Nearly a year old? And isn't it cute how I say 'have' as though I were taking any sort of credit for her existence or care? Heh. Well, she's adorable, and when she's in high school I think she's going to be about ten feet tall.

I completely agree with that premise. It fits all the evidence I have from other authors, anyway! (And she's adorable, so there's really no losing here.)

That is a devious planning face! She's going to be the sort of author who thinks, "Now what would be the worst possible thing that could happen to Character X?" and then makes it happen...

That's actually something Louis McMaster Bujold does in her Vorkosigan books. I'm doing an online re-read at the moment with a group of fellow Dunnett readers. Which, incidentally, is where I first heard of Locke Lamora. :)
