I grew up believing my adoptive father was head of the military police in the RAF during WW2. Thing is, he believed he was head of the military police in the RAF during WW2.

The fact is, that he was 6 years old when WW2 began, and 11 years old when it finished. Fact is, he did accounts in the RAF when he did his national service, that's all.

There are so many people in their early/mid 70's who swear they saw active service in WW2, when in fact, they were in school.
