The past week was mostly uneventful except for my sojourn on the Isle of Wight and Thursday night's gig at the Water Rats Theatre.
I went there with scifisteve to hear The French play a set. Fantastic fun watching the singer Darren Hayman try (inadvertently) to break his instruments. It was the first time I've ever seen an electric ukelele (which he dropped ( Read more... )

I saw Alanis play at the Water Rats, so it holds a special place in my heart :D

Oh yes, Alanis was whipping us with her hair and spitting on our faces while singing! It doesn't get better than that! :D

rhodri produces spearmint don't you know, as well as being a proper rock star in his own right. personally i've never really seen the fuss about spearmint, but if they're better live i may investigate in the near impossible likelihood of them coming anywhere near lincolnshire...

Perhaps you should get him to persuade them. I honestly thought they were excellent performing with great drive and slickness.
I shall add rhodri to my chums list and blame you for doing so! His journal looks fun.

The return gig in two weeks - where The French support Spearmint - should be equally good; Spearmint doing a completely different set and will probably be slightly less obscure than last week (mostly b-sides that they played, obtusely.)
