Continuing on a DC slant, and a Batman one at that, comes this clip from the Animated side of the DC Universe. I've never seen the unedited version of Return of the Joker, before you posted this I didn't even know one existed.

If I am honest though, glaring editing mistakes aside, I do prefer the edited version.

Though this one does make you see events in a different light afterwards. It is more easy to imagine why Bruce would act as he did to Tim because he's always installed a no-killing policy in his wards.

Is it just the flashback that is edited or does then rest of the movie get cut as well.

Ps. The best animated movie for me is still 'Mask of the Phantasm.'

There are edits throughout I believe, to tame it up for family viewing. Like the comments on the video point out that the scene of Barbara and Bruce looking for Tim they talk to two hookers and in edited version it's just a normal couple to get away from 'unwholesome' elements like hookers.

The edited death fits better with the way the animated series and such always worked, also taking responsibility for the death out of any hands. Like you said though it definitely makes it easier to imagine why Bruce would cut all ties with Tim, besides just the fact that he didn't want to have partners to get in such trouble again.
