The follow post contains spoilers for shows that I watch. Some of them are as far in the past as Transformers. Some are as recent as Heroes. Be warned ( Read more... )

Good points, although I'll strenuously disagree that not killing Jack in the Lost pilot was a good idea. I would have much preferred to see how the story panned out without the Heroic Alpha Male. I know Jack has layers and flaws, but he's still one of the most 'seen it before' characters on the island. Plus the doctor is always a plot device--oh, and the Jack/Kate/Sawyer love triangle is my least favourite thing about the show.

Lost has too many characters. I rather wish they would stop introducing new ones (it's an unknown island! Limiting the cast shouldn't be hard!) instead of killing off the old ones to keep the numbers down. There are too many potentially interesting characters whose plotlines are getting swept over. And I think it's a crying shame that the show makes a token nod towards cultural diversity, but it's the All American pretty people who get the lion's share of the action.

*cough* Sorry. I'll, er, step down from my soapbox now. ;) Again, nice points on handling death!

Lost does have too many characters (thus my problem with introducing the Tailies in part to kill them off without taking out more of the original cast). The list of actors at the beginning takes almost until the first commerical break, fer cryin' out loud. I will applaud loudly, though, for bringing in people like Ben, Juliet, and especially Desmond. But I definitely agree with there being too many people around.

In defense of Jack still being around though, I think it's actually the yin/yang relationship with Locke that makes him more interesting than anything else. Plus, for all of Sawyer's con-artistic ways, Jack's proved to be the more devious one so far this season.

And yes, the love triangle sucks. Grr.
