It's wonderful to hear that someone else is writing, and original fiction, at that. I've been plugging away at two different novels for about five years now...I am either insane or still only finding my feet.
I also have the same worries about publishing, as the industry shrinks. However, I'm still in a die-hard Luddite mindset, in that I want to squeeze every last drop out of the possibility of being traditionally published, because there is still a sense of legitimacy to the process that e-publishing doesn't yet have for me.
Nothin' wrong with being insane. As we are both Cellmates, that should go without saying.
Yeah, publishing is kind of a downer, but at least I'm going about it knowing that it's more likely to get rejected than not. I've mostly received form rejections with a handful of "it's just not for me" type messages mixed in. Not that that's going to stop me. *I* like it. Someone else is bound to too. :)
I'm the same way about publishing though. If I can get an actual publisher to go in, that would be best, so I'm still sending it out. But I'm dipping my toe in the e-pub so I'm caught completely off guard.
My finished one is a funny (I hope) fantasy novel. I'm working on a couple of others now, one more young adultish and the other an urban fantasy. What about you? What do you got?

So what sort of novel is it you've written?
