Great work. As one friend pointed out, the frustrating curve of a job hunt is a long line at y=0 and then a sudden y=100. That means a feeling of "progress" is hard to come by. However, it sounds like you're doing well.
Might it be a good idea to check in regularly with the tutoring agency as opposed to waiting for the phone to ring? My temping experience showed that if you were on their minds when a job came in, you were more likely to get it. You could ask if they mind you phoning them (weekly, monthly, daily, whatever).
Scott, you have my prayers for speedy success in the job hunt. While waiting for something specifically tailored to your goals, you may want to check with your public school system. Almost every system is looking for qualified substitutes in science and math, and many districts have waived the need for a teaching certificate for a well qualified sub.
