Had a great holiday, me and my family minus the sister went down to the Twin Cities. I love Minneapolis and WHY are there winters so much warmer then ours when they're a few hours away? I grabbed some comics, the Fallen Angel omnibus and the second volume of Young Liars and Batgirl, but mostly I bought a huuuuuuuuuuuge load of books. I remember ( Read more... )

I haven't read Fray yet, but omg, yes, Kendra>Buffy>Faith. SHE WAS GONNA BE THE BEST SLAYER EVER, YOU GUYS ;_;

Buffy, yeah, Diana, yeah, Psylocke I've still read very little of (recs?), but BRUCE/SELINA 4EVA! And I agree that Kate/Gordon and Kate/Dick could be interesting, but I feel like it's more interesting in the way that Veronica/Logan was interesting for me - because it could be a great story, and because there's definite chemistry, but not because I have this burning ship for them.

I'm deleting all my icons. And I'm going to reupload new ones. This is very exciting and completely unrelated.

Now you have me looking.

Ahaha! I'm the same way with Gordan Korman books. Looking back they aren't particularly good (except for Don't Care High), but omg, I cherished them and cheered whenever I found a new one.

That fight scene seems like it would have worked better live action. I don't often think that, but the way it's handled, it feels good and awesome and kickass there, but liveaction would have hit all my Whedon!kinks.

Blue, she was just not good enough for Buffy. She abandoned Buffy and went to evil, and yeah, she had a shitty life, but then she left her chance at a great life with Buffy for WHY? And she tried to kill Angel*! I mean, the relationship was amazing, I thought there was a whole 'nother story going on, a triangle between Faith and Buffy and Angel where Faith could make her happy and Angel knew that, something way beyond slashy subtext and into ... I don't know, thoughtful subtext?

*currently, Angel > Oz > Cordelia > Buffy > Giles > Willow > Xander.

Why is Willow so low on your list?! She is awesome!

She is awesome! They're all awesome (except for Xander, he's merely cool)! It's such a tiny jump from Buffy to Giles to Willow it's practically NONEXISTENT.

Scotty, where have all your userpics gone? D: bluejaybirdie January 5 2010, 03:43:53 UTC
Skipped the spoilers, but man, what all books did you get? You've got me all curious, here.

How They Met and Other Stories by David Levithan
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan.
Noir: A Collection of Crime Comics by quite a few people, but David Lapham and Joelle Jones are the best.
American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson.
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

The collection of short stories is beautiful. It's not all about romantic love - some is friendship, some is brotherly, some is for yourself - but it's all so uniquely written.

Yeah, Xander (Zee?!) can be a total bonehead at times, but, he's mostly a good guy. Hopefully future episodes will redeem him for you. Are you watching season 4 of Buffy simultaneously with season 1 of Angel?

Alternating discs is the plan.

And hey, since I got rid of my Zatanna icon there's been no one to use that nickname with.

Well, yeah, but there's no "Z" in Xander, and it's more of a "Zaa" than a "Zee" sound (although I guess the same argument can be made for Zatanna).
