"I'm here, Dollie!" He said happily, slumping down next to her with a cheerful smile. Drama had been murder on him today, but at least it was over and he could spend time with with his cute girlfriend. He pulled his scarf down and leaned up against the wall behind them, his eyes settling on her red hair, and, for the briefest moments he felt the impulsion to lean forward and run his hands through it. Though he certainly new better to act on said impulse-- he simply sat back and awaited his beloved to notice he'd arrived.

After a long moment, she finally looked up and smiled. Her smile caught him off guard and he blushed heavily, anxiously sliding closer towards her as his hand twitched to take out and hold hers. He was never good at this sort of thing-- his hands were big and clumsy, and hers were so small and graceful. He was almost afraid to take a hold of them, for fear that they might break.

"Hello Feenie," she said happily and leaned in to press a sweet kiss on his cheek. "Sorry for making you wait, I was just finishing up a sentence." She smiled her dazzling smile again and Phoenix literally felt his heart melt. He'd forgive anything she asked him to. He nodded enthusiastically, his blush deepening with her kiss as his hand instantly went up to rub at the back of his neck.

"I-it's okay, Dollie, I know you're busy!" He said enthusiastically. He always saw it-- whenever he said the name 'Dollie' her smile twitched and fell ever so slightly. He always pretended he didn't. Whatever he'd said, it seemed to dampen her spirits and her eyes flitted off to the side as if to avoid looking into his. He frowned and then looked aside, too, unsure of what he might have done wrong. If she didn't like the nickname 'Dollie', couldn't she just tell him?

"Um, anyway," he said after a moments hesitation, "I was wondering if you're busy tonight..?" He looked up hopefully as 'Dahlia' shifted uncomfortably and looked up towards the pale blue sky.

"I'm... I can't tonight, Feenie, I have to meet someone..." She responded with a sorrowful voice and trailed off. She did appear to be sorry, and Phoenix took her words for the truth, though there was a moment of mild jealousy in which he wondered who she might be seeing.

"Oh." He said quietly, his eyes falling to the floor. Their conversation, once again, had ended and Phoenix had no idea how to continue it. His fingers nervously moved to fidget over the necklace around his neck as he considered what to say. He didn't notice her eyes on his necklace the entire time.

After a long silence, she broke it with a feeble cough.

"Um... ... Feenie..?" She asked carefully, her fingers reaching out to steady his over the charm on his neck.

"Y-yes Dollie?" He said quickly, his eyes following her fingers with a small gulp. "Is something wrong?"

"No... I... was just wondering... if I may have that necklace back..?" Her words were slow and cautious, and when she noted his bewildered and almost hurt expression, she followed her words quickly. "Oh-- it's just, it's so bulky and ugly, I thought... maybe I could get you a nicer one."

"Oh! No, it's okay, Dollie, you don't need to get me a new one! This one's special!" He said proudly and smiled fondly towards her. He even broke out into a small laugh as he went over her words in his head. "I wouldn't give it up for the world."
