So, I got back from the State Debate Tournament at about 11pm last night. One of our debaters took the championship. It was very exciting. Also exciting was that a school with nasty debaters got what was coming when both of its quarterfinalists lost their quarterfinal rounds, one of which was partially due to my judgment. So, despite an email from our tech coordinator indicating that both students and faculty should not be using computers for video games, a competition has developed in our department: Smack the Penguin. It's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, so there's no school. We have finals this week, so it's going to be low-key as far as actual school time goes but hardcore as far as grading goes. It's New Year's Eve, mid-afternoon. We're in Osaka, where we've been since Wednesday. Yesterday we took the train out to Kyoto and met one of Morgan's friends, Masahiko, who is from Kyoto and showed us around the city.
