Making loud sounds as sleep takes over

For the last over a month, my sleep is disturbed. As the sleep takes over me, while I am still aware, I make loud strange sounds, without my control, such as "haaaaaa"
"hahahah" "huuuuuu" etc. My sleep gets disturbed and again in a short while, say five to seven minutes, as the sleep slowly takes over me, same thing happens. This happens three/four times before I fall into sleep. This happens also anytime, whether afternoon, forenoon, or night whenever sleep takes over me. My relatives get a little frightened hearing this including my grandson just about two years old.
I am around 68 years old and keeps more or less good health though I am taking drugs for BP, Diabetes and heart problem of very minor nature.
What can be the reaon?
