Why do you believe what you do?

I had a conversation about Religion with Connie today. It was interesting, she believes in something that she doesnt fully know. And i asked her how she can believe in something that she never experianced, never was taught in full knowledge. And by that i mean, she wasnt a willing learner, she was one of the people who's parents took her to ( Read more... )

you might not be able to see how others can just adopt, and some of us dont see how you cannot. It goes both ways my dear. As most things do.

When i think of tribes in Africa and India that mutilate their skin and skin of their loved ones I cringe and think how in the hell can anyone do that to themselves.. Well they see us doing things like wearing braces and coloring our hair and wearing make-up and even taking pictures and they think the same.. It is something we grow up in and adapt to, it becomes natural to us and we see very little if any fault in it. Not all see little fault, some don't agree, but they are allowed to. Just because religion doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean it is wrong and shouldn't make sense to anyone else..

We believe because we have it in our hearts to do so, not because we feel we have to. atleast i do.

People who just go because it's "what they learned" tend to drop off once they're not living at home anymore anyway. Religion isn't about what you do - it's about what you believe and what you feel.

[quote]I was brought up in the same religion I am now, and I have learned about it, followed it (although you dont always agree with everything) But always, have I remembered who died for me and us----because in the end, having atleast a little faith and a little understanding is better than having none at all.[/quote ( ... )

Sometimes religion is like love, you dont know why you believe in it, you just do. You have this feeling that makes you whole, and for some people it's their religion. THey can't explain why they like it or believe in it, they just do, because it makes them feel good. And in this day and age, they should. It makes life worth living, believing in something that others think is stupid, but you deep inside its great. Thats all I have to say.

your being a one sided asshole.
you need to open up your eyes.
listening to how people feel and trying to understand them, is far better than putting everything down that they say.
you are greatly mistaken.

but, one day you will see that not everyones life is perfect. you may believe people havent suffered and lived in the fiery pits of hell, but you're wrong. just because YOU dont see it and YOU dont know....doesnt mean YOU'RE right!
