Don Corneo Plot

Time: Nearing two months after Sollux and Nepeta first began their planning
Where: Various places.
Summary: Nepeta finally gets approaches by Don Corneo's men, and so begins the reconnaissance plan. Unfortunately the others find out about what happened, and some of them aren't too pleased.

[Nepeta was beginning to reach the end of her rope. Maybe this really wasn't going to work out. As much as she had come to loathe the man, from all the short interactions they had had while she was one the job--she had to admit that the fact he hadn't called her out after all this time was injuring her pride a little. She had known she would have to work extra hard to fit his 'ideal' kind of girl so that he would look past her poisoning but...

Well. She had never really caught anyone's attention in the past, she supposed maybe it was foolish to think that would ever change. If nothing happened in one week more, then she was quitting. It was really starting to wear her out both physically, and emotionally.

She was glad to be home alone, because she didn't want Karkat to see her in such a despondent state and question what was going on. For once, she was glad for the time alone just to laze about without having to hide anything, and sketch]

[Ask and ye shall receive. Not too long into Nepeta's sketching came a stern rapt at her door.]

[Nepeta lifted her head. Must be one of the neighbors. Or maybe Vriska again with more papers---she hoped not. She didn't really want to risk being asked more questions about just what she was doing. Vriska had given her enough guilt last time they talked.]

[She hopped off the makeshift bed, pencil and sketchbook still in hand as she padded over on her bare feet to open the door. She opened it, smile in place.]

Something I can [she stilled when she saw who it was] help you with?

[There were two of them, looking at professional and stern as their sort did.] Nepeta Leijon? Your presence has been requested by Don Corneo. At his estate.

[Well, what a mess this had turned out to be. Kanaya had long since learned about Corneo and what he did, but she never really thought that one of their own would ever be taken in by him. She and Terezi weren't from the slums, and thus had a great degree of protection in that. Vriska, of course, would never have allowed herself to be captured. And Nepeta, well, it was almost ironic that in keeping her out of the missions, she had been subjected to a completely different danger.

Didn't matter much, she supposed. All that matter was finding a way to get her out. That involved them getting in. Trained as most of them were, SCRATCH was an organization that dealt mostly in stealth due to their small numbers. While Don Corneo's men were not the trained soldiers some of them members had had to deal with in the past, there were certainly a lot of them so barging in would be a foolish idea

[ Oh, pick him, pick him!

Although one could say Dave was the exact opposite of enthused about this. Every lesson in irony was saying that this was the perfect, textbook example, but that didn't change the various problems surrounding it. One, Nepeta had gone and allowed herself to be taken by Don Corneo's men. Two, Karkat had--unsurprisingly--flipped every shit known to mankind. Three, Kanaya was to outfit them with more... feminine wardrobes for the mission.

As hilarious as this source of irony was, he had pulled a face when the plan was announced. He knew he could get in, easy as pie, if he just had the right cover to use. Going in drag would've been it, but that meant at least one person knowing about his... current condition.

So that was what had him going to where Kanaya had set up shop for this, rapping the back of his knuckles on the doorjamb to announce his arrival. ]

[It had been a bit of a hassle bringing so many things from her home up in the Middle Plate, but she had managed and found a way to organize things in one of the storage rooms of Headquarters. When she heard the knock at the door she stood from her place at a table where she'd been reorganizing all the makeup for perhaps the fourth time, and opened the door, greeting Dave with a polite bow of her head. She stepped aside to allow him entrance.]

Please, come in, Dave.

You work fast, Maryam.

[ Slipping into the room once she'd stepped aside, he scanned the storage room and took in her supplies. His hands remained in his pockets, sunglasses ever present on his face and hiding his quiet investigation. All the while he tried to figure out how to address this, though he imagined that Kanaya would be... at the very least, able to keep the information to herself. ]
