Top 20 Albums of 2012

I hastily threw together a "top 20 albums" list of 2012 for a poll, so I present it below. Disclaimers: I didn't hear as many new albums as in years past, and I didn't do the "playoffs" I used to do when compiling my list of favorites. So this isn't carved in stone, but it's as good a list as I'm going to come up with right now.

I don't think I even listened to 20 new albums this year. That is just sad.

It's hard to keep up. It's also more cost-effective to fall behind.

I like this list because even though I haven't heard most of these albums, I at least am familiar with most of the artists. That has been a real stumbling block for me and other top album lists I've seen for last year.

For various reasons, I didn't hear as many new albums last year as in previous years, and that means I relied more on proven favorite artists than on a bunch of new(er) ones. Glad you like my list!

My favorite albums this year were Redd Kross "Researching the Blues" and The Explorers Club "Grand Hotel"

I've heard good things about the Redd Kross album. I actually have it, but I haven't played it yet. I'm not familiar with the Explorers Club.
