The Can of Worms and the Aftermath

I have many dear, wonderful, caring friends.  I can't thank all of you enough for your words & thoughts, and the outrage that you feel on my behalf.

What it comes down to is this:  Women are objectified in the world...held to ridiculous standards of weight and age and outer beauty.  If you aren't under 25, under 100 lbs, and a perfect speciman, it ( Read more... )

Amen to all you said and then some! It is too easy for others to judge not knowing what is happening in someone elses life. Everyone has issues that manifest in different ways. You will always be a Holy Mother of God dancer in my eyes! For someone like yourself it is the dance that lifts you! Your weight has nothing to do with your amazing talent!

So someone has already read this bitch the riot act?
Does she need some quiet yet devestating guilt to go with it? For you I will get in touch with my ancient Jewish heritage and very politely make her feel like the piece of shit she is...say the word...

I missed a timely reply to your earlier entry. But here you've said it yourself - we all have, or have had, issues with ourselves, with how we look. It's especially hurtful when another woman, who supposedly should grasp this, who supposedly has been there, is the one to make callous and unthinking and hurtful comments.

Do let me say this: you are lovely and much loved and beautiful. Gorgeously so. You are sharp and funny and talented and a kick ass belly dancer. You're a good person, and a good friend, and it makes me sad to think someone you don't even know could hurt you so. *smooch*

I'm very glad she got scolded. And I'm very glad that you are surrounded by people who see you for the beautiful, talented goddess you are! That being said, allow me to get a wee bit philosophical here... I think that most women think they are "overweight". And it's not men who judge them, either. You ask a guy if that woman over there is hot, and 9 times out of 10 he'll say "oh yeah!"; if you ask a woman the same question about the same woman, she'll say, "well she can stand to lose about 10 pounds, but she's got a pretty face ( ... )

I find a few things quite amazing in this whole thing...
1) Looked at her small profile pic...she's not one to talk...someone who looks stupid, drunk, barslut shouldn't be casually tossing comments like that

2) She sent the apology to your sister-in-law, but not you??

3) Stupid is as stupid does

4) Aren't belly dancers SUPPOSED to have curves??

Finally, she don't know you very well doooo she?? So many idiots, so little time
