In theory, doing something like this should have been impossible. In theory, a Gunmen - as ancient and powerful as it was - could truly only unite with other Gunmen. But there were no other Gunmen right now. There was Simon and Renton - Lagann and Nirvash. And wasn't the whole point of the Gurren Brigade to kick impossibility to the curb, to pierce through logic and acheive what no one else has before?!

The thing... machine, monster, no one was sure what it was. It had come, out of the blue, and it had taken so many with it. They were locked away somewhere... They didn't know where, but there was only one way to save everyone on the island - to destroy that thing.

"Renton...!" Simon cried out, leaping into his small mecha with years of practice. They had talked about doing something like this once before, in their childhood, but had never gone through with it.

"Right!" called Renton, from up in the cockpit of his loyal Nirvash. The island, no, the world depended on them...

Simon didn't mind it when Darry came to him sometimes. He always liked talking to her, and he was more than happy to be able to help his friend out. So when she draped herself over his Lagann and tapped on the cover, he didn't mind in the slightest.

That did not prepare him for the question that came as he opened it up, however.
