At last!  I've finished the Old Testament!  Sorry, robhu - I didn't wait for you.  The last few books were so short I just zipped through them.

Now I've got a choice - either to go on and read the New Testament while the Old is still fresh in my mind, or to go back to the original plan which was (ideally) world literature in chronological order.  That ( Read more... )

Hmm... now do I selfishly suggest you stop reading the Bible just so I can catch up... :)

At least if you start with the NT we'll be more able to comment helpfully :)

I wish there was a bit more summary of Malachi, the reference to Elijah in comparison to Jesus and in comparison to Eli in Xena: Warrior Princess have cropped up so much I want to know what he was actually like :)

As curious as I am to see your summaries of the NT, I think it'd do good to have a break and read something else first.

The stories about Elijah are in 1 and 2 Kings. There really is only a passing reference in Malachi. Like Jesus, he performed lots of miracles including making a little food go a long way, and resurrecting a dead boy. He also ascended bodily into heaven instead of dying.
