It's freaking me out a little bit, how much the folks on my neighborhood forum, most of whom are no more than anonymous screen names to me, know about who I am and my life in general

I have no idea. I don't know who Maryann is either lol. At least not by name. I think I'm just not nosy enough, because well...I don't know who anyone is.

losing anonymity on forum boards

I post a lot in the back to school forum, and all my buds figured me out right away. I never even thought that I knew some of these folks til they asked if I was storelady. At first it freaked me out too. The librarian at my school came up and said, "I knew it was you when you used the word booger in a post" Am I the only person who calls a booger a booger? Oh Well, so much for anonymity. The FQ forum knows exactly who I am, but nobody asks me, they ask Storeman. It is weird, but wasn't there a movie about how we are all just a few folks away from everybody? A friend of mine this morning was talking about what a Johnny Depp fan she is and it turns out that a kid she teaches has a cousin who cleans his Los Angeles home. Another was talking about what a big crush she has on Laurence Fishburne, and what she would do for his autograph...He has a house right across the street from the grocery in the FQ and shops for himself when he comes to rest, and just be himself...

Oh yeah, six degrees of seperation :) It's true though.

I still just have no idea who anybody is. And it's even weirder that they figure out who I am, because I havent even been in the neighborhood that long, comparitively. Just a couple of years.

And how do they know who my friends are, when I don't even know who THEY are?

Heck, I don't even know who you are, and I probably say hi to you every day :)
