Never alone

Well, our second kitty died last night. We've had her for twelve years, which is a good long life for a cat. It's also over half of mine, and it feels strange without her. I can't say it was unexpected, but I can't say I'm not heartbroken too. She went peacefully, fell asleep right in the living room (with no sense of dying privately. It was just ( Read more... )

Thanks, I appreciate that. I mean, she was old and she went so peacefully that I don't feel terrible about it.

I miss my baby kitty, but you're right...it was just like her to go like that. I guess I haven't 100% accepted it, but I think I'm starting to feel less heartbroken about it.

I'm glad you're feeling better about it. :) I think it helps that the situation surrounding her death was fairly peaceful. Also, right out there with her people. :p

It was very peaceful...honestly she could not have died more perfectly. I know she's sleeping peacefully now and the more time goes by, the less weird it'll be to not have her there.

I'm sorry about your kitty. 12 years is a long time; I'm sure she had a really happy life. Cats do have such individual personalities. It's hard to lose them, but they need a sense of dignity all the time, and I think that helps to remember them and to let go of them.

Thank you. :) She did have a happy life. She was a farm cat for a few years before we got her, and I know she wouldn't have been as happy there.

It's so easy to become very attached, but you're right. Cats are so dignified that it seems best to mourn them gracefully.
