Anna started it!

These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing's users. Bold what you have read, italicize what you started but couldn't finish, strike through what you couldn't stand, and underline the ones you plan to read soon.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - Uh...it wasn't as bad as Anna said, but the footnotes were horrible.

Anna Karenina - I would like to. Really. Eventually.

Crime and Punishment

Catch-22 - Good book, most definitely.

One Hundred Years of Solitude

Wuthering Heights - VOMIT. All I have to say.

The Silmarillion - Tried but couldn't finish. Maybe because I don't really like Tolkien's writing and only read LotR and The Hobbit because they had a vaguely interesting story line, unlike this one.

Life of Pi - It's been on my bookcase foreeeeever.

The Name of the Rose - I've never even heard of it...strange...

Don Quixote

Moby Dick

Ulysses

Madame Bovary

The Odyssey - Half bolded because I've sort of half read it.

Pride and Prejudice - Not a huge Austen fan, not going to lie.

Jane Eyre - Much better than Austen. I actually enjoyed this one.

A Tale of Two Cities

The Brothers Karamazov - Despite everyone obsessing over this book, I have no desire to read it.

Guns, Germs, and Steel - Sounds like a Grandpa book to me...

War and Peace

Vanity Fair

The Time Traveler's Wife

The Iliad

Emma - If I could stand Austen, maybe.

The Blind Assassin

The Kite Runner - Everybody really seems to like it, but I have no desire to read it.

Mrs. Dalloway

Great Expectations

American Gods

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Maybe eventually, since its name is so awesome.

Atlas Shrugged

Reading Lolita in Tehran

Memoirs of a Geisha - One of the crappiest endings in a book I've ever read in my entire life...

Middlesex

Quicksilver

Wicked:The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West Read, but found it to be overrated.

The Canterbury Tales - Yay AP Lit!

The Historian - Heard it's not worth the effort.

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man - I tried. I really did.

Love in the Time of Cholera

Brave New World - Ah, summer reading.

The Fountainhead

Foucault's Pendulum

Middlemarch - Tried to read it for free reading one quarter last year. Didn't work out so well.

Frankenstein

The Count of Monte Cristo - Sort...of? I think I read an abridged version, which probably doesn't count...

Dracula - HECK YES!

A Clockwork Orange

Anansi Boys

The Once and Future King - Loved it since grade school.

The Grapes of Wrath

The Poisonwood Bible

1984 - My introduction to George Orwell, who is pretty much amazing.

Angels & Demons

The Inferno

The Satanic Verses

Sense and Sensibility

The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oh Wilde, how I love you and your homosexual, woman-hating self.

Mansfield Park - The movie was a bit much; can't even imagine what the book is like.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

To the Lighthouse

Tess of the D'Urbervilles

Oliver Twist - Couldn't even deny it if I wanted to.

Gulliver's Travels

Les Misérables - I meant to last summer, so maybe next summer...

The Corrections

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time

Dune

The Prince - Most enjoyable, in a lecture-y sort of way.

A People's History of the United States : 1492-present

Cryptonomicon

Neverwhere

A Confederacy of Dunces - Um...I'm vaguely curious?

A Short History of Nearly Everything

Dubliners - Geez, so much Joyce. Maybe because he's nearly incomprehensible...

The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Beloved

Slaughterhouse-Five - Blythie keeps telling me I need to read Vonnegut.

The Scarlet Letter - Um...Hawthorne. He makes me queasy.

Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation

The Mists of Avalon

Oryx and Crake

Collapse : How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed

Cloud Atlas

The Confusion

Lolita

Persuasion

Northanger Abbey - If I could strike through this one about one hundred times, I would. HORRIBLE.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

The Aeneid

Watership Down
